Do I have to rent a unit online before coming to Skowhegan Storage?
Yes. Renting a unit is required for you to gain access to the property. You can rent a unit here on the website or by calling our office. Once you make the initial rent payment and sign the rental agreement you will be given access.
Do I have to sign a lease?
No, but a signed monthly Rental Agreement is required. All rentals are month-to-month. We pro-rate the first month and ask that you alert us the last month you will be there.
What do I need to rent a unit?
Driver’s license or government-issued photo ID, a lock, and first month's pro-rated payment by credit or debit card. We accept the following forms of payment after the first month: we accept all major credit/debit cards, MasterCard, Visa, AMEX and Discover.
What if I’m not sure what size space I need?
No problem. We will be happy to show you around the property and let you see a number of unit sizes. Seeing units in person is the best way to decide which size is best for you. We many times can do this remotely over the phone, Just give us a call.
Do I need a lock?
Yes. You must provide/purchase your own lock and you keep the only key(s). We strongly recommend a high-security lock, such as a disc lock. Remember, the lock on your unit provides the last line of defense against an intruder; the better the lock, the better your defense.
How should I store my things?
Everything should be in plastic totes with sealed lids. Furniture should be wrapped in plastic. Cardboard boxes and loose plastic bags are not sufficient to protect your things. Most damage to stored items is due to how the items are packed and stored.
